hello!
i was thinking the other day how it would be usefull to be able to use the ipaq expansion acks with our axims, as there is a lot of different devices for different choices for different uses and at the moment there at a good price. now my dad got an ipaq (then top of the range spanking new! its now like a newton compared with my axim!) and at the time i wasnt that intrested that much in the actual device as i knew i wasnt getting that one, but i seem to remember that the connector was justa normal PC CARD slot, i am probally wrong but if there are any users out there who can vouch for this please do. anyway if this is right, it should be easy to connect the packs up, the drivers may not work but it may be wortha try???? wht do you think?
I guess it is possible, but keep in mind the Axim only has a CF slot. You'll need to figure out a way to get the expansion pack to connect to the CF. We've seen SF to PC Card converters, but they aren't too good since as you said, the lack of drivers.
I've had both- and the ipaq ep seats into an extra slot at the base of the unit next to the cradle slot. I don't see anything similar on axim...so I don't see how it would work. Could be wrong, of course....
And, no, they are flat out not compatible. Not only do the Axims not have a connector to match physically (much less pin-for-pin) the sleeves don't fit the physical design of the Axim. I loved the sleeve concept on the iPaqs, but oh well.
im not really worried about weather the sleeve fits, i would mod that some how...... but i have seen a little gadget someone made by splicing togethere a CF card and PC card slot so if im right that would work, also ive tried some Ipaq drivers of certain things and they seemed to work!
