Okay, I just got off the phone with Tech Support rep "Marge". Took all of 10 minutes for her to issue a replacement unit for me. Most of the time I was just sitting there listening to Muzak while put on hold. Guess she had to check her little database for the solution. Anyway, I hope they send one with the new chip and a working d-pad. Gotta thank all of you for your helpful tips!
