Memory Limit on X5 workaround?

Hi guys, sorry I have not been a forum member very long.

My question is:

Is it true that the axim with PPC 2002 version 3 only goes to 512 megs for the extended memory?

Is this for both memory ports?
Is their a work around it without upgrading. ( Everything I read says upgrading sucks!!!)

Please let me know.

Also which memory cards don't work.

Thanks a million

The X5 comes with 64MB or RAM. There is a 128MB Upgrade available.

Are you confusing this with the external SD or CF cards?? You can use whatever size you want in there.

I think CF and SD was what he meant by "extended", Howard.

And no, I don't believe the x5 ever had a problem with reading cards over a certain capacity. Remember, though that the SD is not SDIO.

I believe some of the earlier PPC 2000 models had memory limits built-in to the manufacturer's specifications, but I don't believe the X5 and the rest of the new PPCs do.

There will be limits, but not any you'll need to worry about. I believe the SD is limited to 1 GB. I don't know what limit the CF may have, but I run a 5GB microdrive in my X5 with PPC 2002.

So it appears to be more of an issue with manufacturers capacity, not the OS memory limit?
