Question Axim x5 sync problem with Activesync compatability

Hopefully someone can steer me in the right direction. I have a Axim x5 with Pocket pc version 3.0.11171(build 11178) and my wife's axim x5 has pocket pc version 4.20.1081 (build 13100). The activesync version on my desk top computer is version 3.5 (build 12007). My problem is that my Axim syncs up but my wifes will not. Do I need to download activesync 3.8? I went to the Microsoft site but they did not seem to list the axim x5 when you enter which device you have. They don't have the Axim x5 on the list. i also am not sure which Pocket Pc I have on each Axim we own. 2002 or 2003. Some advice would be appreciated. I found out my wifes's Axim came with Pocket Pc 2002 Prem and was upgraded to Windows mobil 2003 if that helps.

Before you get into that (it should not really matter anyway for activesync), What is the device ID for both your Axims? The default is Pocket_PC. Activesync uses this to create the partnership identifier. If both units are called Pocket_PC, then you have a conflict within the partnerships. Try setting the ID's to His and Hers or something unique for each of them.
START>SETTINGS>ABOUT>DEVICE ID Modify the "Device Name to something unique. Let us know if that fixed it.

Thanks for the reply. Much appreciated. Both devices have thier own id names. Mine syncs fine and I get an error message on my wifes saying " an incompatible version of Microsoft activesync has been detected. Synchronization has been disabled. Upgrade Activesync on your desktop computer and reconnect" Any other thoughts?

I finally got them both to sync up after installing Activesync 3.8 and finagling around for a couple of hours. Problem solved for now.
