Using Contacts

Sorry if it is an old news, but here is a creative way of categorizing persons in standard PocketPC Contacts, which I have invented and find very useful.

If you agree, there is no need to have Company field with real company name for a person in your contacts when Category is Personal. That company field may be used to categorize your contacts in a new dimension:

For example, you may define following "companies" = friends, doctors, relatives, real estate etc.

Then it is much easier to navigate in your contacts if you choose option View - By Company at the bottom of the screen when in Contacts. That will show following list with number of entries in each category:

doctors(2)
Dr. Kim
Dr. Leibovitz <--- if you click on a "company" name it expands the list
friends(11)
relatives(7)

etc.

You may want to have a neat list with real company names for Business use and personal contacts separated in that list, just start pseudo-company names with "_" character and it will put personal contacts in front of the companies:

_doctors(2)
_friends(11)
_relatives(7)
DELL(1)
Technical support (800) 624-9896 w
IBM(3)
Microsoft(2)

I assume the search list is set up that way to find multiple contacts that work for the same company, quite a neat little trick - thanks for posting!

Did you know that if you go to contacts (drop down arrow) more you can find an option for creating your own catagories. like maybe the same one's as you have on outlook.
