I thought it was just me, but I'm hearing grumblings on another forum that they may have shipped out some defective install disks with the Axims.

In my case, when I first received the Axim, it worked fine, but after a hard reset and uninstalling Active Sync on my desktop (to start from scratch after a problem) I couldn't get the disk to auto run or do the setup or anything, it was dead in the water as far as installation went... and it was the same way on every pc I own.

I only got around the problem by reverting my hard drive back to an earlier time when Active sync worked and thank goodness everything went okay from there.

I have just requested (via email) another disk from Dell, just in case I want or need to install my Axim on another computer. I would have never thought to do this until I read that others were having the same problems.

Anybody else get a bad disk?

In case of emergency are the files on the companion disk available on the web for download? I couldn't find them in Dell's download section...

I know Dell doesn't have any downloads available yet for the Axim. Activesync is actually a Microsofft product, so you can download that from MS. But you'll need the Axim driver. You can get this from here: http://www28.brinkster.com/plankton1/driver.zip
You'll have to copy the url and paste it into the adress field of the browser.

How can the disk be OK the first time and bad the second time? It sounds more like the software is screwed up.

I was asking myself the same question. But all I know is it worked fine the first time, and it didn't the second time. And then when I put it on 2 other computers in the house, it did the same thing. Can't get it to setup or autorun. I'm stymied to say the least.

Since I was able to revert my hard drive I have since backed up the Resco Picture Viewer and Active Sync apps, just in case.
