I feel your pain as an H3900 user I sometimes wonder if I will wake up one morning to find that my memberships in Leckmedia Websites will be revoked because I am sooooo woefully behind. Not that I wouldn't mind an X50 of Hx2415 if someone had one laying around<hint>

I agree wholeheartedly. That's the primary reason that I haven't been around the past several months. I just stopped using my X5 when the touch screen went bad. I used my wife's X5/300 for a while, but it just wasn't the same. I won't spend $100 to replace the touch screen, I won't pay over $300 for a new PDA, and I've lost any confidence I may have once had that Dell will support their non-current products.

Now I just use the PIM functions in my Nokia 6230. It does video, it plays games, and it allows me to read books. All that AND Internet access, and I really don't much need my PocketPC any more. I might look into one of the PocketPC phones (not Smartphone, but one of the ones with a touch screen) if they ever reach anything approaching reasonable pricing, but for now, I have dropped to the level of lurker and not much more.

Why in the would would I change what works just fine? Would be nice to update it to 2003 but what the heck - nothing is available that justifies the expense to upgrade to a new pda. Now, if Dell would come out with a cellphone, pda combo that worked I'd consider it.

YOu can find Ipaq Hx 2415 on ebay for less than $300 then you can come and play in Ipaq Hq where we always have fun.

I love my X5. I have had it for 2 years now. Every so often I get bit by the X50v bug, but the price and the lack of major advances over the X5 are the hold up! Sure the X50V has some advantages which would limit the need to carry around some cards (WiFi,BT, etc), but you just cant beat the original shape/feel of an X5.

I love my X5, i got it when it first came out...and i have the BASIC and im still satisfied! I know i could double my processing speed and probably quadruple my internal memory, but that still aint good enough. If you ask me, besides the VGA screen and the performance advantage the X5 and the X50 are still very alike. Maybe when dell comes out with a pda with an internal hard drive (like 30 gb) and a processor over 1 gHz ill change my mind. But until then, my X5 basic is just fine. (Plus, i still get the "woah what's that??" wherever i go ) Oh and by the way for x5 users if you want landscape mode while browsing the web use thunderbird its amazing.

I loved my x5 but it died and Dell sent me an x50 basic as a replacement. So I got forced into an upgrade. (I am somewhat disappointed because I had a keyboard, an extra battery, etc. for the x5, but not enough to complain to Dell to get a new x5.) I really like the x50. But I wish I had the next version up with wireless.

Still using my X5. If I could afford it, I'd upgrade to the X50, though.

I'm not so sure that we're merely dying off as much as being killed off. Most of the new software is exclusively being programmed for the X50 and X50v. Icons and screens are being made for VGA and QVGA images are hard to find.

I'm keeping my X5 until it dies and not replace it when the time comes.

I bought mine for the 2 slots to run Wi-Fi and a GPS and both work great so no need to upgrade.

I was looking for a pretext to upgrade, but couldn't think of one. I even dropped the X5 pretty hard, and after shoving the case back together, it still works fine. It does everything I want it for, so I'll stick with it until it dies.

I had a one-sentence lecture from a techie friend of my once: "Get all you can out of the technology you already have." By that standard, I have a long way to go with the X5.

I've had mine for over 3 years with no problems, I see no reason to upgrade and I have not found one that I would buy if I did.
What I use most is the serial interface, had to mod a sync cable for it to work but not to many other devices give access to usable i/o.
