I set my X5 aside awhile back. My kids play games on it and listen to music. I think it is about on its last leg as it takes longer and longer to start after a soft reset. I have thought about just getting rid of it, but it was my first PPC and I am kind of attached to it - even though I don't use it anymore. What can I say?
same with mine, there is something wrong with the battery charging circut in my axim so i have to take the battery out put another one in and charge the other battery in the spare slot in my craddle. the x5 has been a good machince, had it for more than a year and a half now. but it is starting to show its age. I have decided i am going to hold on to it until it dies, i have a bit of a sentimental attatchment to it, being that i would cry if my bank account took a hit from dell by ordering a new one.

I depend on my X5 daily for e-books, email, references, GPS, MP3s, calendars, notes, docs, spreadsheets
the X50v seems about 10% better (great screen, bad battery life seems to cancel out) so I can't see paying $400 for 10% better until my X5 dies for good!
I got my X5 Advance about a month ago off ebay and its great! use it at work using the sat nav and its just a dam cool bit of kit! ok you can get newer models etc, but it does exactly what I want it to do so im well happy with it! shame about the sound on it etc, but I think it looks cool and I can sit downstairs and chat on msn while staring into my reef tank too hehe BONUS!
My X5 Advanced is still working well and I have no need to change at this time. I have a lot of accessories and it can do everything I need it to do. A major improvement of features would cause me to look into a new purchase. So far mine can do anything that any of them can do.

I'm an old X5 user too. Uh, wait, I mean I use an old X5 I bought new when they first came out. 2002 op sys, and then upgraded to WM2003. I love my Axim and probably won't upgrade untill it dies.

I had a X5 basic for almost two years before I broke the screen last November. Until then it served my needs. To replace it I got a X50 basic for about 250 dollars. It works well also.
I've had mine for ~ 2.5 years now, know it's quirks, strengths and most of it's limitations. I've bought new batteries for it but have otherwise not had to open it's innards to the outside world. It's one tough little PDA. I'm tempted by the new devices, but agree that more than $300 is too steep when you have an X5 in hand that is still meeting it's original specs. I really should use the cover more, but it's so easy to shove it into my pocket and run off to whatever. I'll be part of the X5 forum for some time to come - unless some disaster forces me to think through a replacement. I have almost no interest in upgrading at this time.
I still have my X5 and it is still running like a champ!
Yeah, I go in the phases...one minute I am about to buy the X50v...the other minute I am not.
lol you sound like me..
I would get a used X50v but the price and not that many major changes besides larger screen by what .4? and a little more memory and built in BT & Wifi.
Right now i have a Symbol & Ambicom wirelss CF cards.
I love my X5 and only use it for the diary and contacts and GPS, which until yesterday was perfect, I was using TomTom 3 and upgraded to TomTom 5 which I have since learnt isnt compatible with the X5, so am tempted to upgrade, but with the cost of buying a new PDA and TomTom5 as I dont think they will allow me to put TomTom 5 onto a new PDA as they lock it to the device you register it to, I would love to stick with the X5 so am hoping someone can find a way to cure the TT5 problem!
Seems like most of you are inclined to think the same way I do. Probably take a hard look at the next release model but until then I will keep my good old X5....baring a series of unfortuante events.

heh-heh...I'd still be using my Apple Newton Message Pad if the X5 wasn't so darn cheap and reliable (and still supported with so many good programs out there). So, yeah, I'm still chugging along with the x5, does everything I need.

I've had my X5 Advanced for 2.5 years like many others and it still works great for me. I realize there are many advantages to upgrading to the newer versions and I know what they are. Unfortunately there are too many other toys out there that I want. $400-500 doesn't come around every day.
