I still use my X5 everyday at work, I have an x50v with wm 6 on it, which I use in spurts, but for the most part I still use my X5 way more. I think the X5battery life spoiled me

I use mine daily for music and gps and occasionally wifi. Have an HP6515 for most of my scheduling because it also has my phone with it. I still love the axim. I also have a spare battery, so it just keeps going and going and going.

I think if my x51v ever breaks down I might look into an inexpensive x5.

I hope there are plenty of X5 user's. I just picked one up, and since I am new to the whole PDA thing, I am going to need a lot of help.
I also have a Toshiba Genio E that I play with.

Some people think they can get good bucks on ebay.

PDA's are bundled to create more value.

Perhaps $75, depending on accessories and condition.

It's hard, though, from one photo to really tell the condition of the pda.

I can also say there is still a strong presence in retail service for X5's. They are considered more 'rugged' and have more longevity. They also don't suffer from the battery latch open problem like the 50/51 models.

Book Scouting is also a hot topic for the X5 since, once again, they are rugged.

I've still got about 20 I'm trying to dump.

I am in the UK and new to PDA's also but find there are a lot of X5's for sale on ebay and cheap too. Lots of accessories also. I have an X5 now and find it great, it will be quite a while before i upgrade to an X51 or similar, this X5 does all I want it to including satnav. The X5 may be old now but I think they will be used until the day they give up, most new users will get one due to the low price they sell for second hand over here, approx $10 plus. New batteries are cheap also. Long live the X5 I say.

I'm a recovering crackberry user. I've used the Axim since 2003 but then replaced it with a blackberry a couple years ago. A few days ago the blackberry just died on me. Luckily I've backed up the calendar with Outlook. Now I'm going to get a cheapo cell phone, sync the Axim x5 with outlook and use that as my primary PIM again. I'll also try using it as a device to temporarily store digital photos when the cf card on my camera gets full.

My Dad is enjoying his, but I don't think he has joined here yet.
I found a website that has free e-books so I have downloaded about 20 so far.

I actually got my X5 new from Dell; and used it for almost 5 years.
I bought an x51v from someone that ended up not using it, and I'm going to put my X5 up for sale (when I get a chance to take some pictures of it).

It looks like all the Axim's have a user base, but mostly X5s and x51v.

I’ve had my X5 for over 4 years now. I still use it every day and can’t imagine life without it. I’ve looked occasionally at newer devices but ultimately, if it ain’t broke and I am broke, why fix it? So, how do I still use it? For work, I always sync with Outlook so I am never far from my calendar, tasks, contacts. On my many business travels this is indispensible. I have recently started toting around a lap top, but still rely on the X5 for quick access to info. With my WIFI card I can get updates on my flights and e-mails and weather for my typical destinations. While at work and it is sitting in its cradle, Dockware keeps me entertained with a running slide show of images I have collected (who needs the Sports Illustrated Calendar).

For Home use, I use a variety of programs to manage home finances and tasks. Pocket Quicken syncs with Desktop Quicken allowing me always have up to date reporting on my finances. Flex Wallet keeps all those website and banking passwords handy and safe. ListPro lets me keep track of the jobs around the house I want to do and the materials I want to get, as well as maintaining gift lists for the wife and kids.

It is also my only entertainment device. For both home and travel, it is my music player, book reader (Microsoft Reader), news reader (Spb Insight), gaming device, and video device (TCPMP).

Recently it has been showing signs of becoming unstable – unexpected hard resets. The batteries don’t last as long they used to and I still have an issue with high humidity and the device turning on all by itself. So, I know that someday it may all come to an end and I’ll be in the market for a new device. Hopefully, there will be an affordable, versatile, and reliable one that can do everything the X5 does (and I couldn’t care less if it had a phone).

Until then, however, I will continue to enjoy being a proud X5 user.

Still using the two Axim X5's
I originally had a problem with my original X5 in that it would not get past the Screen Alignment; somehow, it finally did but not operating at the original state. My son, a Hawaiian Computer Engineer Tech, gave me his and I have been using both ever since.
But, I am experiencing identical problems on both now:
I cannot get the MS Money to work now.
It was working great before, but no matter what I do, to include completely wiping out Money from the X5 and Active Sync, and all the other programs, and reinstalling Money, Active Sync, and the backup programs; yet, Active Sync will not let me in to get Money to take data from the Main MSMoney.
Also, often times, I have had problems with it taking an excel program; for one, I learned you cannot use the Off2007 on the X5; so I got rid of it and went back to the 2003 which I like better. But I had forgotten, that the most recent xls formats were made "compatible" to 2007 and would not take on X5. I had to go back and use the "Pure" 2003 Excel. But I am unhappy not being able to solve the MSMoney 2004 problem. Yes, I love my X5. I think it is far easier and better than the Blackberries and the Apples. I wish Dell had chosen to develop it. I wish I could afford the X51. X5 Diehard - wiljon
