I bought an AXIM X5 basic when they were first available. It met my needs then and still does. I do agree that we are a dying group. Keep using the AXIM X5 as long you can, I intend to do just that.

I just got rid of my X5 Advanced about a year or so ago...and now I somewhat regret it. I thought I wouldn't miss it but I do. It was durable and I had all the stuff to go with it...keyboard, BT CF card, WiFi CF Card, SD memory cards, CF memory cards, upgraded it to WM2K3...it was awesome. But someone came along and offered me some cash for it ($250 for everything), and I let it go. In retrospect I really didn't need the money THAT bad but I sold her. On the flip-side, this is probably what made me sell it. My job gave me an X51V. It's not MINE but I have it for as long as I work here. So, I guess in the back of my mind I figured I didn't need it anymore. But in retrospect I could have used it for many other purposes...

I too love my X5. I hesitated too long and Dell discontinued offering the X51. I've been waiting on the rumors that Dell is working on a venture with someone to offer a new PDA (smartphone).

Still going strong
I still use my X5 a lot. It is great for sat nav using Tom Tom 5 and an sirf III card.
I want to use it for viewing my avi files from my dashboard camera but I can not get the files to view using PocketMVP. Still looking into this though.

Bought my first X5 in Dec 2002 and purchased a second one earlier this year to try and play with Linux on it. I use both every day and won't trade them for anything.

Got my X5 in summer of '03 and fell in love (never dropped out of love yet) and am still pushing the limits of the machine.

just uploaded the trial version of intelligolf (They say that version 9 won't run on the OS, but I'm proving them wrong)

Works great and TOUGH!!!! I can't imagine what I would replace it with if it ever went missing / was damaged (perhaps another X5? X3 maybe?)

I sent my axim to the box of "almost trash things" for about 2 years and it was incredible that the machine with just 5 minutes or so charging "wake up"... of course it restarted completely (hard reset) but it is working like the day i bougth it completely... i´m going to test some recent software and try to make it look "modern" because my wife want's to learn to use it... and so its working again

A really good equipment, unfortunly nobody produces PDAs as strong as X5 today...

I have had mine for 4 years, and I have been very happy with it... until the other day. I turned it on, the battery was low, so I turned it off, changed batteries, and it will not turn back on. Soft reset does not work, so, I may be thinking of something new.

I have had mine for 6 years. I had put it away for a while because of work (I have iPhones, Tilts, Treo's, Blackberry, HP) but I always come back to it. I use it for music in the car and a bible for church. I was given a second one and now use it for a backup. Even with the iPhone I love this sturdy PDA!

I have had mine for 5 years now and during that time I have had a x50v/x51v/cingular 8125/Att tilt(still have it) and a few extra X5's. I never got rid of the original warhorse though and I just broke it out of retirement to use for school. I am a teacher and plan to use it for grades/print passes/attendence/remote control/power point presentation. The screen size and durability makes it very useful. The X5 is still one of the best PDA out there in my opinion

I love my X5. My Blackberry broke 3 different ways (dont even get me started about the ball) but my x5 has been reliable for various tasks and information input. Hope to be around for a long time to come.
