Maybe someone will learn from my experience. I'm still not sure what went wrong. I purchased a 128 MB SD SanDisk. Plugged it in and it worked like a charm. Then I started having troubles. I'd power up the Axim and bring up Excel and look for a file on the SD card. Not there. Bring up explorer and the SD card was gone. Soft reset and the SD card was back. Okay posted here and nobody had any suggestions so I went to Dell Tech. Support. I'm not going to put you to sleep like they did, but it was horrific. They're simply not set up to support the Axim yet. So I continued to read various posts to get a sense for what was in store. I backed up the Axim and finally got through to Dell and sure enough their suggestion was to do a hard reset. That would fix my SD card problem. He asked me if I backed up files and I told him I used the backup utility in Active Sync. He walked me through the hard reset, the Axim came up, I did a sync and was back in business. Now to get all my goodies. I did a restore and in failed. To be honest I can't remember the error because I was seeing red. I told him what happened and he asked me again if I backed up my files and I told him again that I used the backup/restore utility. He made some kind of moaning sound and said I should have backed up my files a different way. Am I missing something? Does a hard reset negate a previous Active Sync back up? I saw it create a file on my desktop. The Axim is only a week old and the loss isn't that bad, I can recreate or recover it, but still....

This is what I do usually, I go to activesync and tell it to do a Full backup, I have it to the default folder, usually I call it backup1.whatever and then you are backed up, usually it takes awhile too if you have alot of stuff.

Then if you need to do a hard reset, plug in your "new" pocket pc with a blank slate, then activesync will pop up and ask if you want to do a partnership, close that window, dont choose, then go to activesync and choose which full backup you want to restore to.

This works for me, if I would tell it to set up another partnership again it would be alot of trouble to get it restored.

Good Luck.

Yes dont set up another partnership.
that causes a lot of trouble. if the file is still on your desktop then check size! but someway you shoud be able to do a restore.
