Dell gave some poor directions for installing this. You have to extract the three files on your computer then transfer them onto your Axim. Then run the AximX5.CAB file on the Axim. They made it sound like all you have to do is run the program on your computer which I found wasn't true.

Emonair- was your Axim turned on and connected to your computer when you ran setup?
I am running Win XP Pro with ActiveSync 3.6 on my computer and when I downloaded the file and ran it, it created 3 files in a directory. When I then clicked on setup.exe, the setup program just ran fine and the Axim asked me if I wanted to restart now (the Axim was on before I ran setup.exe). Once I tapped on yes, the Axim rebooted and the enter function on the D-pad worked!
I downloaded it this morning without any issues. I run XP on my laptop, and the install was just like any other program. After a software generated soft reset it ran fine. Nice upgrade.

Strange - I have XP and my Axim was connected, but I experienced the same problems you did - weird!

I had no problems either. I downloaded the file from the front page of our Aximsite.com website, ran the self extracting zip file, then ran the setup.exe file within that. It installed fine, asked if I wanted my axim to reboot. When it came up, the navigation button was 5-d insted of 4-d. :)

I had used the link above too. On Win98SE I had to ActiveSync The Cab into the Axim, Tap on it an it worked/asked for a reboot. The Set-up prog. from the new folder on my Desktop just seemed to open up windows Explorer to a Full page. Nothing else.
Work work here. Running WINME. I unzip the file, do the setup thing, get a screen that indicates I can install or exit. I hit the INSTALL and nothing. NADA. Zilch. When I look at the remove files I do not see the d-pad program/patch listed as Dell says it should. Running ActiveSync 3.6. Even tried running the files from the Axim... does not recognize the files as PocketPC files. Any ideas or suggestions out there?
Thanks in advance,
Ron

I had the same problem. Copy the .cab file to the Axim, and use File Explorer to run it.

I unzipped the files. Transfered everything to my Axim. When I tap the AximX5.cab, it says; "AximX5>CAB is not a valid Windows CE Setup file.
Oh why can't Dell send over a Live-In Tech support person. To fix these nagging issues??????
