Sync to Groupwise thru Webmail

Ok, possibly convulted/confusing question.

I bought my buddies Axim X5 and have updated it to A04 (or so I think, it says A04). It was a gift for the lil' lady. Her workplace uses Groupwise. But, the kicker is that she actually has to go thru a Citrix server (remote login) to access the account. So I'm wondering what I can do so that she can link the email to her Axim?

Any help here?

I also use GroupWise but I am not sure I understand your question? We use a web link to access therefore I use it like that (so it is similar to a hotmail or yahoo login) or use the inbox to synchronize! What is the issue exactly?

funny you say that. i'm not 100% sure what the problem is since it's all her problem at work. My understanding is this:

They use Groupwise for email at work. She works for a govt agency. However, she works offsite and is not directly on the govt agencies network, so when she logs in to check email, she goes through the internet (i think) and remote logs into Groupwise. Basically, she can do it from anywhere, there's not hard login to Groupwise on her desktop, it's all internet based.

What she wants to do is have her Calendar sync to the Axim so that she only has to enter her appoints on her Groupwise account and not re-enter them by hand into her Axim. The Groupwise sync from Novell's website (free free free) may or may not pull it off, but my reading of what it does is that you need to be logged into your computer and Groupwise is part of your computer setup and not an internet based Groupwise.

Do you follow that, or did I just make that 100 times more confusing? I'll ask her more about it tonite.

D

After a quick Google session there are two answers:

1. If the lil' lady's agency is running Citrix 3.0, it MAY be possible, but is extremely convuluted and difficult. You have to use a serial-based cradle rather that USB and the administrator has to have ActiveSync running on the server end. They have to remap ports and several other nasty things that many admins won't do for one remote user.

2. If they are running Citrix 4.0, then from Citrix's own website:
Pocket PC users want to be able to synchronize PDAs with e-mail applications running on Citrix Presentation Server. Presentation Server 4.0 enables client-side redirection of USB to ActiveSync on the Presentation Server. This enables ActiveSync to run on multi-user operating systems. Presentation Server provides support for many Pocket PC hardware devices. There is no need for serial cradles and no configuration on the user workstation—just plug in and sync!
I have no idea how to tell what version of Citrix they are using, we don't have it here on campus.

Good luck! :approve:

thanks for everything so far.. i had found the novell product and intellisync and everything.. but wasn't sure how it would work since groupwise wasn't locally installed..

she is on citrix, but she doesn't want to sync through citrix... she can remote login through the internet and was hoping she could do that, since the citrix connection isn't very reliable.. so before i go through the effort of trying to sync it using PDA Connect, does anyone have any experience through this? she does go through webmail, which says groupwise once she's logged in..
