Is the upgrade from PPC2002 to 2003 worth it?

Just wanted to let you know that you can download PPC2003 using a bit torrent client. I just downloaded and installed on my X5. Took a little hex editing, but it was easy (comes with instructions) ans works great. I will be seeding it also at night. You can get lots of good links to it and other stuff at the isohunt website. Search for Axim X5.

Hello Everyone,

Newbie here. Just got my X5(400mhz, 64mb, 48mb) and it is running PPC2002 version 3.0 build 11171.

I have found the 2003 upgrade for $10.

Is this upgrade worth bothering with? The main thing I would like to improve is the web browser. It currently has the Dell WiFi card which currently works great. I'm just not thrilled with the way Internet Exploder renders web pages.

That's not a "dunce" question - it's a legitimate one.

From what you describe your 2002 works fine. $10 isn't much, but upgrading is something you should do if there are compelling features you don't already have or it fixes something broken. If you're happy with the X5 and how it performs just use it awhile and spare the $10 - and the time you would have to spend re-installing everything. You can always upgrade later if you need to!

Grr, the whole reason I upgraded to WM2003 was to get landscape orientation only to find it was not included in 2003 but rather 2003SE. I used JSlandscape when I was running 2002 but the pocket windows virtual keyboard would still popup like I was entering the data with a pen not recognizing the input was actually coming through the IR port so the virtual keyboard just sucked up all the real estate. I am really regretting my Dell purchase at this point and wishing I had picked up the UX40 Sony instead. I don't know that Sony is any better at support than Dell but they can't be any worse.

It seems to me that the Dell phiulosphy here is lets introduce a product, get customer feedback and rather than fix those issues to make a quality product, they fix the issues in the NEXT product and just expect you to buy new stuff every year (an issue with their PCs too SX270 power supply chronic failures led to SX280 rather than fixing sx270s for customers). If people continue to buy Dells under that philosephy thats their choice but I prefer to buy from people that stand buy the quality of their product.

well if u really want landscape your only choice to get it built in is the X30 and up... so u might as well instead of complaining about dell...

heres my philosophy, if you want something changed you might as well just roll with the punches or complain to the source of the problem with some nice fixes and recommendations... if enough people complain there might be a change
