Ahhhh Good ole MS reader
Just the skinny
Down loaded Ms reader for desktop and Axim, bough 2 books just to find out there super protected. Cant copy e-book’s to my Axim. Tried to surf out to website (amazon.com) and redownload them from my Axim and Amazon was nice enough to tell I cant do that for the books I "BOUGHT" because they were already downloaded. If you want to read e-books on your Axim go to www.peanutpress.com and get the Palm reader for the PPC, and buy your books there I have all my PBD books on my PC and Axim I can even copy them to other HD’s computer ect to have a backup!
The DMCA is a very very very BAD THING!

It sounds like you had the same problem I did. However I had not downloaded the pc version. After buying books through Amazon it forced my to download the PC version of reader and install that. Afterwhich the download automatically placed in my pc version.
I was however able to just drag copy the files from the My Books directory into my Axim via the windows front end. I dont see to be having any problems reading on my Pocket PC.
Did you by chance open the book on the PC for reading befor trying to copy? Not sure if that woudl 'lock' the files to just your pc or not.
My understanding from Microsoft Reader site is everything is locked to your id and you can have 8 machines all activated with the same id. Not sure if that means the eBook can be on all 8 also though.
Just my 2 cents.

I would do that if I could find the files for the books I bought.

Err, you can download it to your axim, it's easy.
First, go to microsoft.com/reader and activate your pocketPC version (you need a passport signin) then download the ebook using pocket IE, hotsynch and go to the amazon electronic downloads site, download it.
Poof, thats how I do it.

hmmm..I didn't need to download MS Reader on my Axim...it was already installed. But, I did need to activate it.
Then I downloaded the Desktop version as I didn't have that on my computer (not necessary to do but, I wanted the Desktop version as well).
The Axim MS Reader has worked fine. I get my books from a lot of places but, Amazon is not one of them. For some reason, I just don't like their site.

MS READER
I am usingthe MS reader and think higly of it. I have been a reader of e-books for several years and have used various readers but none have been easier to use and as easy on the eyes (to me) as the MS reader. As for installing a new book I drag and drop treating my Axim as if it is a hard drive on my system and I have had no trouble what so ever. It is true that to make things easier I rename a file that I am downloading since most of the files are rather cryptic. Other than that......easy as opening up a hard copy.

Files Folder
On my desktop I have a field that I created (Creatively called E-books) and I download everything there. Since I am an avid SF reader I use the http://www.baen.com/library/ site a lot and most of the books there are downloadable in a couple of formats minimum. They are all zipped so when I unzip them I rename them and send them to my folder. I can either drag and drop or update when I sync. I prefer to drag and drop becasue I have so many e-bpooks that I am taking some off and adding some all the time. Since I am going to Germany in June for 8 days and I understand that the only english channel on TV is CNN I am going to take as many E-books as I can cram onto my SD. Will probably get another SD just to have an unlimited supply. ( 9 hours over on the plane and about 7 coming back, yep lots of reading).
Hope this helps.

http://www.gowerpoint.com/ -- get µBook, it's the best PPC eBook reader,

µBook is a simple and lean, yet powerful ebook reader for Windows and Pocket PCs that can read HTML, TXT, RTF, PDB and PRC (not secure) ebook files. It can read directly from inside ZIP or RAR files, and supports BMP, GIF and JPG images. It offers many customization options including: Portrait and Landscape display, Choice of font type, color and size, etc.... It Also has a resizable/skinnable User Interface. µBook is improving on a regular basis and best of all it's free!

I really like it myself, I have a customized look on there, and what I do is download HTML versions of Puibic Domain books, as well as things like downloading webpages I want to read via AvantGo, if you plan to read pages like a book, then uBook is pretty nice becasue of pagination, highlighting, notes, etc. that you have instead of just the plain browser.

Sorry for taking so long to reply. Work email and all. OK. I have the same issue with Amazon downloading directly to Reader. On my PC. The pc version of reader placed a directory called 'My Library' in the 'My Documents' directory. This is where I see my .lit files. From here I just drag copied them to the Axim.
Hope this helps you! :D
