Slow file transfer in cradle ?

Just a quick question...I find copying files to the axim via the cradle/activesync torturously slow. And if I try to browse the axim via the explore function of activesync, it also takes ages for the folders to appear (5-10 seconds). My question is: Is this normal ???

I like to copy MP3 tracks onto my compact flash card. If I do it with a card reader, it's quite fast. But if the card is in the axim, it takes ages. Can anyone tell me why ? I have no idea !

Thanks

The cradle is a lot slower than using a card reader or a wifi connection, so I think you are seeing normal speeds. I use a card reader for any mass transfers, and a wifi connection for synching and backups.

As for the reason - one word.. Activesync. The overhead for Activesync is very large and slows transfers down immensely.

Ok, many thanks. I guess I'll hang onto my card reader :)

just my 2 cents

i bought two card readers(home and work) after being frustrated by the long transfer times via activesync. now that i have 512mb card i can load a days worth of music files and vids in a matter of 5mins or less.

I got a pccard adapter which allows me to simply slot my cf card into my laptop, transfer of 100 mb in about two minutes. Pretty cool.
