That is really stupid. The x5 is more than capable of running it, but stupid Dell hates their customers. My x5 is the LAST piece of Dell hardware I purchase. Pig-dogs, all of 'em. Screw them and screw Microsoft for not creating industry standards for this crap.

You are not the first to feel like this. Many x30 owners feel the same way. I felt the same when dell didn't offer a wm2003se update for x3i owners. wm2003se was a very minor upgrade (mainly just being able to rotate the screen) so the x3i was very capable of handling that. But dell decided not to offer it, so there is nothing you can do about it. Many other companies feel the same way, so by changing to say, IPAQ wont necessarily mean you will always get an update.
i think that there are ways to download/install windows mobile 2005 to an x30 infact my dad said he might get it non device specific cuz he has this thing were he gets the newest versions of all current windows operating systems

I'm not sure that's true. It seems like the minumum requirement for WM 5.0 is 128 MB of ROM. The X5 and X3 and X30 models simply don't have this feature.
And it appears that the X51 is going to have 256MB of ROM from previous posts here.
And the good news is that you can still sell an X5 for a fair amount of money (considering 2 years use) and put it towards a new device. The WM 5.0 devices will have some nice functionality that the X5s won't have.

He is probably an MSDN subscriber through his buisiness or something. It is true, that when you are an MSDN subscriber, you DO get all the operating systems to download (including betas, like of vista) but you DO NOT get WM os. The closest thing you get too it, is the download of Visual Studio 2005 beta 2. This includes a WM5.0 emulator but NOT a version to install on a PPC. There is NO generic version of WM. IT IS DEVICE SPECIFIC.
