USB mass storage emulation?

You still appear to be missing the point.

The emulation would run on the PPC. With it installed you would not need drivers on the PC to access files on the PPC. It WOULD allow for universal access to files ( within reason ). Insted of the USB saying "I'm a dell" or "I'm an Ipaq" it would then say "I'm a hard driver named dell" and the computer would use the mass storage drivers that are built in to most modern OS's.

So.... I hope you can see why what I was asking for makes alot of sense.

Oh I understand what you are asking for. I just don't think its possible without changes to the hardware and ActiveSync. It would totally change the way PPC are viewed on the PC. No longer would you see it as a "Mobile Device", but a hard drive. What should have happened is WinXP should see PPCs without drivers or ActiveSync. Maybe the next version will do this.

Finally... took you long enough :)

I don't necessarly think it will take replacing active sync, it would be an alternate to active sync ( on the PPC ).

It would open up PPC to many more users since CAB files could be loaded and files accessed from almost any PC.

We'll see... I doubt that will ever happen, not much of a market for it....
