Order Delay

I orderer a unit on 27 December 2002, they said that the unit would arrive on 13 January 03. And now with unknown reason, they give me new delivery date on 20 Jan 03, expected arrive on 22 Jan 03. Anyone has the same experience? I don't like this...thinking of cancelling the order and get any another brand at local store.

Yours is becoming a typical reaction... "thinking of cancelling my order". Your perogative, certainly. Even the Dell Dudeman can't ship what he doesn't have. Personally, I think Dell is suffering from way more demand than anticipated for these units. But hey... maybe you would be better off getting some unit at the local store and satisfy that "instant gratification". You have to make yourself happy. It seems most folks are pretty happy with their Axims... I know I am. Good luck to you and I hope you arrive at a decision that will benefit you greatly.

Here is an insite from someone who works in Dell Sales.

As stated in the previous reply, we were bombarded with Axim sales. I was pulled from another department just to help with Axim Sales. The date we give to our customers, is estimated "ship" date, not delivery date. Its ironic though your order hasen't been shipped. I was placing orders for these devices and they were shipping 15 minutes after placed. With an estimated ship date of late Jan. If you ordered extra peripherials with the system, that may of delayed it.

Yeah, but I just got off of the phone with Dell sales and the lady I spoke to, said that all models 300/400 are on backorder and will not be shipping out too soon. She was "kind" enough to change my shipping from "next day" to "ground" as I see no point in paying for something that I won't see for 3 more weeks.

Well yea skyvoice...it is a typical reaction when you expecting something badly and suddenly got a delay without any explanation (I'd appreciate if they just explain to me thay they experiencing order handling problem). I could extend myself to wait for another week...I know I want this Axim badly, it has two great expansion slots, this is what I like the most. So, I traced my order status again today, and the estimated ship date has changed to 3 February 2003. Well great. Also with the same reason "...we are experiencing an unexpected delay...". I'm the one who is experiencing unexpected delay, they must be experiencing resources problem due to high order there. I've read all the manuals and all the reviews for all you guys, downloaded all the programs, patches, ebooks, got the 256 SD, CF modem-ethernet-wireless, CF GPS and Camera, got the neoprene pouch..so where's my PDA?
It's an order of single unit of AximX5...no other accessories, because I didn't want to add more delay time. I ordered accessories from other store, and they are all here now except the main system. I don't like this at all.
At least I can write something in this forum to kill my time waiting for two weeks more..watching you guys experiencing your Axim.. some of them already got problems, some of them got a perfect system...at those days I can be easily distracted if I find something better.

Where is everyone seeing the changes in the ship date? I ordered my 300 on 12/31/03 and my "Order Status" page has yet to change the 01/14/03 date. I am waiting to see what happens. For the price (212.00 with cables) I can wait a little while for a really good product.

thynno - Does that CF card have all three (modem-ethernet-wireless) types of connections on it? If so, that would be a pretty useful card, although battery consumption must be pretty high.

I ordered mine the 30th of december, and they said it was going to ship today. First of all, why the hell does it take 15 days to make an axim? If it is on back order, freaking tell me so I dont get my hopes up. Now, they have changed it to the 20th on my order status. I dont have any accessories, and it is the 300mhz model. I got an email saying it wont ship to on before or until the 3rd of feb, which kind of confuses me. Basically, it seems like they dont know when it is going to ship. This really pisses me off, cause I ordered my 256mb CF card on the same day, and that shipped the day i ordered and has been here since the 4th, coming UPS ground. Dell, get your act together.

I didn't realize that they were backordered so far....

I ordered mine on 12/25 and it shipped the next day.....(lucky i guess)

Have been thrilled with my Axim but can't blame anyone for buying another brand......don't think I would of been able to wait a month.

thynno i know how u feel man, i orderd mine the same day and it says feb the 3 on it too i was like omg. Dell needs to get there act together and tell us (email) when their is a delay. But they are a bunch of slackers they just want pr money :(

Well, I just checked my "Order Status" and it STILL says January 14th. So I will do a wait and see come tomorrow. I agree with several of the other posts. If cost is not a real factor and you need it then go with another brand. As for me it is breaking my bank just to pay for the axim. But I need it and can't stand PALM OS.

Like the previous post, I have a 256MB CF waiting here as well. Maybe it will come in time for my B'day on Feb 9th. Happy Smegging B'day!...lol

I ordered one Axim 400 on Jan 7th & was given a ship date of Jan 29th. This morning I called Dell & customer service confirmed that the Axims are backordered. :( They couldn't give me any idea when my PPC might actually ship but were still hopeful for the 29th. Tonight I was reading on this board about people's ship dates changing to February so I checked my order status. Incredibly my order was "in transit to the carrier" as of TODAY !?!?!?!?!?!? :D How the heck did that happen? Anyway, I just called 1-800-WWW-DELL and the automated phone service gave me a UPS tracking # so maybe this is for real.

I'll let you know when it arrives.

Maybe that shipment came in from Taiwan!

It is good to know that I'm not the only one in this "delayed shippment" boat. I got tired of hearing how every one got thier Axim 1/2 a day after they ordered it. Every time I look at the Order Status on Dell.com I get depressed.

Maybe we should start a support group. <_<
