Mysterious Desktop files!!!

Hi all,

I need some help! recently I have been browsing the internet, chatting on msn...no problems, until I was cleaning out my profiles folder and found seVeral "desktop" files and when I attempted to delete it I got the message that it is a system file and a program may not work as expected...I honestly cannot remember installing anything of late but I have un-installed a couple apps (registry editor, sbp finance).
Can anybody tell me what these desktop files are and whether I can delete them. It appears to be the same file since they are all 66kb and exists everywhere in the profiles folder...which is occupied by internet files???

Backup your system first, then try to Delete, if no problems your good,if not you can restore back before you deleted.

Thanks I will try that. Don't know why I thought a restore needed a hard-reset! But it still makes sense. Kewl!
