Activesync uninstall and reinstall

I have Axim X5 300Mhz with rom version A03.I do not know which version of Pocket PC or how to find it. I am having problems with Activesync (locking up when trying to resolve issues) and need to co-ordinate programs.I was advised to uninstall and reinstall Activesync and co-ordinate versions of pocket pc and Activesync.
Activesync is not even listed in my add/remove programs, and I have a utility suite that does an even better job uninstalling but again it does not show Activesync.
How can I uninstall a program my XP doesn't see although it is on desktop as well as taskbar?
Also, how can I find my version of Pocket PC and Activesync version, that are compatable?
Being a newbie to the PDA I am very flustrated. If anyone can help with uninstall and reinstalling correct version as well as correct Pocket PC version or finding out which one is now on my Axim X5 I would be a happy man and then begin dealing with other problems. Thanks, Bob

When you looked for ActiveSync in your Add/Remove Programs list, did you look up "ActiveSync" or "Microsoft ActiveSync"? It should be under the latter. The latest stable version of ActiveSync is 3.8; it should not matter which ROM version you have.

ActiveSync 3.8

Thanks Ricky and Gigi. Uninstalled and reinstalled Gigi's 3.8. Found program and removed it, install wizard stuck but just shutdown other programs on PC, ended conflict. Started from scratch but still recieving unresolved issues on files and Activesync. If the programs and files that are unresolved were listed I could repair or remove.
Gigi your "need help: list is great, I'll be checking that but still can't figure out why my 512 SD card remains empty and I can't move Files or programs to it. Must be missing a step. I thought I could make space on internal memory by moving it to SD but Axim still has me trying to figure that out, as well as which programs must stay on internal. Thanks again, Bob

To move programs to SD, uninstall then reinstall to SD. That is the "safest"way. :)

Sorry, but are you talking about Axim programs downloaded from PC, or does this include homepage, and if so where do I find homepage programs to reinstall, heck just thought, I don't even know how to uninstall from homepage or anywhere else. Feeling real dumb right now and finding little info in tutorials and need to learn how to use search more accurately. Bob

Any programs that you installed you can uninstall and then reinstall to your Card by using the add remove program on your axim and then reinstalling whatever app or game you want to your card. To do this when you click on your app that you are going to install
1) Make sure your axim is conected and active sinc is connected to your comp and Pda.
2)click on your app or game program downloaded to your Computer.
3)A window will Pop up asking you to install.
4) another window will pop up asking you to install in default Directory Choose no.
5)choose your SD card in the drop down window, installation will now begin.
6)When complete the window will finish on PC and install on your PDA.
7) your new app or game should now be installed and located on your PDA card:approve:

rsaturn9's instructions were excellent, but if you want to take a look at what the screens actually look like, the tutorial called "Installing, Running and Uninstalling Programs" (link in my signature) should help.

To help with those unresolved items, sometimes it helps to remove your device from the cradle, go to File - Delete Partnership on your desktop ActiveSync, then try syncing again.
