Hello,
I am not sure if it's time to put my X5 to "bed" or not....it won't start at all. The power light does not turn on. I have tried removing both batteries, taking off the screen cover, hard reset. I am looking for options.. professional repair (I bought it off of ebay a couple of years ago, so no warrenty with Dell), doing repairs myself (if indeed they can be done), or just wishing my X5 farewell!
I would appreciate any advice, help, suggestions.
Thanks!
What are the events that led up to this? Had it been a long time since you used it? Did you install something new?
When you said you took out both batteries, how long did you leave them out? It's best to leave them out for at least an hour to let the device fully hard reset itself. Also, have you tried plugging in the AC adapter to see if the light on the power button will turn on?
At this point, I can't see sending it out for repairs as being worthwhile. The X5 is not worth much anymore so you may end up spending as much as it is worth on repairs. The only exception is if you know exactly what is wrong with it so you can price out the repair ahead of time. Companies like PPCtechs and PDAParts will do repairs.
Was using it at the store, turned it off, then a hour later tried to turn it on with no success. Didn't add any new programs, or download anything. I did try external power without batteries, and still no power light. Currently taking your suggestion about keeping batteries out for longer then an hour.
Thanks :)
Also, make sure that when you powered it off, you were not just turning off the backlight. If you press and HOLD the power button, the device does not turn off but the backlight does.

First thing I'd check is that there is volts
coming out of the AC adapter.
If you decide to sell it, let me know.
I like a challenge.

Hello,
Thanks to all for their help. After much research (time in which I should have been studying microbiology!), and much taking out batteries, putting them in, checking volts, etc, and debate as to wether I should go back to a paper datebook (NIGHTMARES) I choose to purchase another X5. Now, I feel like I have my security blanket back..isn't that scary!
Thanks again,
Bonechick
