New, Used Dell Aim
I just got a used Axim off of ebay but did not come with any software and I can not get my PDA to sync with my computer with just my USB cord. What software should I get and where can I get it?

Congrats and welcome to AximSite!
You will need ActiveSync, that can be found here for free -> http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...ivesync38.mspx
You will also need Outlook if you plan on syncing contacts, addresses, ect with your desktop. That you have to buy if you don't already have it. But it is not requied to make your Axim work. Good Luck~

I'm not sure what kind of Axim do you have, but you need at wifi card if it's not the newer model.
If you are connected thru activesynch, and already connected to the internet thru your computer, then all you need is fire up PIE, and you should be able to do internet, etc. Email included of course...

You need to be in a wireless "hot spot" or a somewhere that has a wireless network set up. There are many free ones around, airports, libraries, coffee shops, ect. Some places make you pay a few bucks to use it, McDonalds is one I can think of off the top of my head. Check out this site for a list of hotspots in your area. From there, just turn on your wifi and open PIE. Good Luck~

You can also bypass hotspots by using your cell phone as a modem-if you have minutes to burn and don't mind slower data transfer rates.

A lot of people are under the mistaken
impression that once you have a PPC, and want to connect to the internet, that it just "connects". The X5 requires a wifi card, like the Dell Truemobile 1180 CF 802.11b card, (~$25 on ebay) or similar in order to connect to wifi spots, like Starbucks, Panera Bread, Borders, libraries, or your home etc. If you live in NYC or someplace where wifi is rampant, almost everywhere public seems to be a connection. You can also get a cheap (~$15) CF modem and if you have an ISP with dial up or AOL, then you can dial in and get email or the internet. If you can't connect at home, you probably have the XP Firewall up and blocking connection. You can also view preloaded web pages for news, weather, finance, sports etc by subscribing (free) to Avantgo ( www.avantgo.com) and sync everyday with your desktop puter to update the web pages to view at your leisure.
