sandisk cf wireless card

Hey guys. Has anyone had problems getting a SanDisk CF +128MB network card to work in an X5? I installed the software but could never get the light on the card to work (no blinking either) even when sitting next to the router. The signal strength indicator was lit on the screen, but no communicationw with the router. I called Sandisk and was on the phone for an hour getting no where, she said it may be power issue with Dell's? Any thoughts or experiences? Now I am stuck with this card, and cant find any other brands at any stores. I really want to get this working. Thanks,

Dan

Sandisk WiFi+128 headache

If you search the threads here you will find many of them about this issue. But to sum it up real quick. There is a issue with this card and the X5. If you look on SanDisk’s website it will explain this problem in I believe the FAQ. There, it basically says to return it and get a different brand. I have heard that Dells website also addresses this problem but have not looked for it as I got all the info I needed off this great site.

You can get it to "work". I did the same thing and after I got it spent hours of frustration as the little green light wouldn’t come on (light blinks if it detects WiFi with no connection and stays solid when connected), I found the bad news on SanDisk's website, then the semi-good news here about how to get it to "work". First off, the memory will never work right, I have got it to work once or twice but it's not consistent and you WILL lose data. Now for the WiFi, I know the following works with Windows Mobile 2003 because this is what I have (look though the forums for info on 2002). Download the CF driver update from Dell's website. Then the new 2003 drivers for the WiFi card from SanDisks website. After you have them installed on the X5 your WiFi will "work". But you have to first turn on the unit, put in your passcode, then plug the SanDisk unit into the X5. Then before you turn off the X5 you have to pull out the SanDisk unit. If you don't do this you will have to do a soft rest with the WiFi card removed and then put it back in after the X5 is back on, just to get the blasted thing to "work" again.

I would recommend returning it if you can. If not, use it until you can get a decent one. Search the forums here about WiFi with X5 and you will get lots of great info about the best cards and where to get them, from people that know this platform better then I ever will.

Hope this helps, Dustin

p.s. If it is possible, it would be great to see a sticky in the X5 subcategory addressing this issue. Thanks for a great website.
