Can't get past the Screen Alignment setup after fresh install

Hey folks,

My girlfriend bought an Axim X5 off of ebay and we are having some problems. Initially, when we played with it we had the same problems described by gnw (gnw's problem). After that I decided to take it home and install PPC2003 on it. Now when I try to start the setup process, it keeps going to the screen alignment page even after I've done at least 40 times. I performed a system diagnostic and everything passed.

The funny thing is, the one time I got it to work was the time after I pulled the SD dummy card out. But then I had the same problem gnw had with the screen mapping.

First things first, how do I get past the setup screen alignment?

Same issue different cause

I was off on a long trip could not get a chance to keep my X5 charged. So the battery drained out eventually. When I got back, my X5 was completely dead so I recharged it. After that, when I power on, I get to this screen alignment which I tried several times. Now I am stuck with aligment loop and am unable to get out of it. Any help in this regard is much appreciated.

try sliping your fingernail under the frame right where it says PocketPC . if that clears it you have the dreaded short on ribbon cable and require the black tape fix. it seemslike the short becomes an issue after a battery drain and hard reset. exactly the same thing happened to me.
