X5 Network Card

I read that having a X5 doesnt allow me to access the internet without pluging into the computer. I found this card online. Is this an internet card? If not is there something I can buy to access wireless internet? and where?

This is not a wifi card. This is bluetooth. With this, you can hook your axim up to a bluetooh cell phone, that has a data plan, and surf the net. Otherwise, if you just want wifi, get a wifi cf card.

Did you look in any computer stores? Staples, CompUSA, Buy.com, eCost.com, Dell, and of course eBay. Many people here have gotten good deals on Symbol cards from eBay which is a good card relative to power usage and signal strength.

Search for WiFi CF.

Don't get the Sandisk WiFi/memory combo card, they do not work with the X5. The D-Link will work but tere are other cards that are better.

Check the WiFi FAQ: Can anyone suggest a CF card for my Axim X5? for a brief discussion on various cards.

Get the Symbol card off of eBay, it's low power and has great reception.

eBay is your best bet, but avoid the Sandisk card completely. You'll find tons of them for $20 or so, but they won't work with the X5. Most of the others will.

I bought a Proxim Harmony card for about $25 shipped ... after buying the SanDisk 128 MB + WiFi and learning it didn't work. Fortunately, a friend of mine bought a PDA at a garage sale and asked me where he could buy a WiFi card. I told him to give me $20 and I'd take care of it. :)

linksys wcf12

I just won a linksys wcf12 on ebay. Paid 26.00 for it. After reading about all the problems people were having with the linksys drivers for this card and wm2003 I decided to try the PERFECT PRISM drivers. Up and cruising the internet in about 10 minutes. The only down side to this card is the power consumption but the prism driver allows you to turn if off.
