X5 won't switch to backup battery

I have a Dell Axim X5. I just upgraded to OS to Windows PocketPC 2003 and that went great.

However, it did not resolve a problem I have where it will not switch over to the back-up battery when the main battery runs down.

It used to work, then I didn't use it for several months and now that I am using it regularly again - I realized this problem started.

I have put new batteries in and tested to ensure they are fully charged. The power gauge shows it is 100% - however, once the main battery runs low - it shuts down even though the backup battery is new.

I have slightly bent up/in the backup battery metal contact pieces.

Any help?
Thanks Much.

My understanding is that the backup battery is only to save data, and not actually run your PPC. Are you losing all of your data when the main battery is drained, or just not able to use your PPC?

Not losing any info...

I don't lose any data, it just shuts down and goes into suspend mode. If it sits dead for extended period of time and the backup is dead - it loses everything, but that isn't an issue.

My regular Li-Ion battery seems to be running down fairly quickly so then I'm without my PPC unless I have the charger with me.

Seems that before the backup battery would run the PPC for a little while - but it isn't ment to run it for an extended time.

I could be wrong...

Thanks!

the backup battery is only used to keep your data in ram when your main battery dies or you want to swap it it will only last approximately 20 minutes once you dont have main battery or adapter power it is not intended to run the pda

As said, The backup batterys main job is to keep your data safe, not enough power in it to power the axim
