I agree with the last two posts. I managed some of the big box retail stores and wire can do it...if you are carrying 2 sets of headphones, that can set them off. But I am going with the theory on the belt, wallet or jacket. After time, the electronic tag inside of things, especially leather will actually "re-charge" itself and cause you to go off. I know this because i have a leather wallet from Levi's and at the store I managed, the alarm would go off about every 5-7 months and I would have to deactivate it again on the pad. They sew the tags into the linings of wallets and belts and coats and purses. Don't try to find em...probably will ruin the item you have. Just ask the clerk or the guard to help you out with it and they can deactivate you. PS This happens alot in the summer during thunderstorm season when the static electricity is high .

NWPDA is right. That's one of the hottest topics out there in the industry right now... RFID tags.

Benetton had to back out of sewing the tags into their clothing because of privacy groups complaints about them using them for snooping.

Many retailers are buying the RFID tags by the millions...

Freaky if they can re-activate...:crooked:

WoW... many interesting answers.

The tag hidden in a jacket theory seems to be the winner... someone gave it to me as a present (from oversea) and who knows what type of security system they have there.

Anyone interested now in opening his/her Axim to see if ti has more thna 30 ft of wire? ;-)

Thanks for all the feedback,

A.O.

Well...just a thought since you shop K-Mart....do you own a pair of Thom McAnn shoes? They have an internal EAS device in the sole of the left shoe.

Give the Axim for someone else go with you, see if it'd trigger alarms.
Final solution, wear nothing but your Axim:p

I had the same problem at Home Depot. The pair of boots I wore (purchased @ KMart) had an embedded tag in the heel of the left boot. After several [unsuccessful] trips through the scanner with increasingly less "stuff" in my pockets, the manager suggested running my boot over the cashier's pad. Lo and behold, I stopped setting off the alarm.

Ironically, the alarm never went off when I visited KMart.

I was thinking some jerk slipped something in my jacket pocket while I was shopping.

Good luck.

Hi guys... thanks for all the feedback... I have now some few options I am ready to test! The shoe-conspiracy theory sounded right but then I have been there before with same shos no axim and nothing went off...

How do those tags became activated again?

About wearing nothing but your axim... do you think that it will be a valid entry for the Rhinoskin Contest?
:rolling:

Cheers!
