Sync and Charge Cable not charging

I got one of these Dell Axim x5 Series Sync and Charge (Hotsync) Cables so I could use it from my labtop. I can use this cable to sync up my axim to my pc and install software and etc. Though it does not charge my axim x5. any ideas why it is not charging it?

are you connecting directly to the laptop usb. Hubs often do not supply enough power.

I'm plugged directly into my usb port. I also tried this with my desktop system and I'm having the same problem.

The USB port doesn't supply enough uumph, power, to charge and use the Ax at the same time. Might charge if the Ax is turned off for charging!

I had my axim off all last night when it was connected and it not charge it all.. I'm confused as hell as why this will not charge.

Here is what the cable is suppose to do.

Features:

* Charge your PDA in just 2-3 hours or sync in a matter of seconds.
* Provides the same amount of synchronization as the docking cradle without the bulky hardware.
* Special aluminum shield cable is used to ensure the least amount of data transfer interference.
* Can be used with any universal USB adapter.

The computers, either laptop or pc have to be turned on for the charging to take place.

My pc was on all night when I tried to charge it, and that didn't work. I tried leaving the axim on with the screen light off, though that was draining the battery too. The cord may be damaged.

Not likely. If the battery is discharged below a certain % most USB ports will not have enough power to charge the battery.

70%?! That is ridiculous. What is the point of this cable if it will not charge the axim? Would of been nice if they explained that before I purchased this.

yes...for me, if it falls below 80%, my usb cable can't charge it, and i have to use my adapter

With battery @ 25% or so, ac to usb cord to ax charges, but it is slow. ax is off.

laptop usb, with laptop on and ax off, has charged from 45%, but extremely slow.

battery dead, no-go with laptop. only found out after i bricked my ax.
