Compact Flash Modem Not Being Recognized

I have recently bought a Pretec (branded as Compaq) Compact Flash Modem from EBay.

When I insert in into the Axim I get an "Unrecognized Card" message, and the modem is not listed in the connections settings

I have tried both soft and hard reset, and both connecting to the phone line before plugging card in, and plugging the card in unconnected.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what may be wrong?

Axim PXA255 400Mhz
ROM Version A03

I'm assuming you have already installed any drivers or other neccesary files? If so then I'm not sure, try seeing if it recognizes other CF peripherals. If it doesn't, then you might want to contact Pretec, Compaq, or Dell. Good luck!

It did not come with any drivers. I have searched the 'net and the consensus of opinion from all the information I can find is that PocketPC 2002 should just recognise the modem on installation - if it doesn't there is little else you can do :(

Does anyone know the name of the PocketPC modem driver so I can type it in when it says the card is unrecognised...?

I have a Linksys Wireless Netwek CF card on order - I am getting worried this won't be recognised either.....

It didn't come with a CD or anything? It most likely needs a driver...

Nope - and there's nothing to download from the Pretec site either...... As I said - I think PocketPCs are supposed to recognise modems automatically :(

Hmmm....they didn't recognize my D-Link or Linksys........sorry I can't think of anything else you can do...

Yes I did get drivers with mine, I couldn't use it without them! I am going to check the website real quick just to make sure you didn't miss anything.

I looked at their CF Modems and I found this:

"If the system asks you for a driver, please contact our tech support at support@pretec.com"

You may want to contact them, to see if they have any drivers.

Thanks for your help - I have emailed them and will post an update on this board if and when I make progress.

(Now why didnt I find that link on their site...)
