Power button does not always Power OFF

There is a peciluar problem with Power button on my 400Mhz Axim. It turns on Axim on the first push, but to POWER OFF my Axim I have to puch the button sometimes several times.

On the other hand, using Power OFF icon from Omega "Battery pack" always Powers OFF Axim.
Thus, it must be hardware problems.
Does anyone expereince similar problems with POWER ON/OFF button?

You may be experiencing a 'feature' on the Axim. If you hold the power button down for any significant length of time, it actually just puts the screen into a low light setting. To actually power off, press the button very quickly (and even this 'off' is a relative term since these units are always in a 'ready' state, more like in a sleep mode than off)

Mine seems to do the same. I've noticed that if I try to shut it off immediately after turning it on, it don't work. I need to leave it on for a few seconds. I was always wondering if this was a known issue.

This is not a problem. This is a feature (this time not bug) of PPC2002, it is done to prevent accidental double clicking on the power button. The timeout period is 4-5 seconds. If you press power button again within this period it will ignore it.
If you understand what you're doing, you ain't learning anything.

That makes sense. I didn't really sit and count the time interval, but you're right on.

Thanks

Thank you for the explnataion, ikehiker! Indeed, I measured it with stop clock and it seems that Axim needs about 5 seconds after been turned on to be turned off. If I try to push Power button earlier, Axim just ingores it. This is rather silly and annoying feature of Pocket PC 2002.

If I want quickly check, say, time of the day. I have to turn Pocket PC ON, see time, then wait 4-5 seconds, before turning it off.

You're giving me credit for something that Amadeus explained. I too am thankful to him as I didn't know about that aspect of the on button. Now I'm prepared for when it happens to me!
