I just purchased a new 256mb CF card (F1) to replace my Sandisk. I haven't had problems using it.

I ditched the Sandisk and bought a SimpleTech. Wifey comes home this evening, so I will fire it up and see if I get the same problem.

What is it with Sandisk and their products high failure rate? They must not have a team of application engineers who test all generations of their products against many items that use them (cameras, pda's, etc...).

Installed the SimpleTech CF card and it worked like a champ. No errors, no complaints, no corruption. Downloaded some programs, some MP3s, some WMAs and some divx video and they all work fine.

Sandisk better get their QA people cracking because they are letting a lot of defective product out of the factories.

I have a 96MB Lexar CF marketed under Ritz' (the camera people) nname. I originally purchased it for my Canon G2 digital camera. I hhave used it over and over, added and deleted MP3s, WMAs and Mpegs. No problems at all. I guess I'm fortunate. I've been thinking about a 256 MB CF by Sandisk on sale at Costco. Looks like I should leave that alone. I also have a 128 MB SD by PNY. It has also been trouble free.

By the way, exactly what is the advantage of formatting the CF in FAT 32? Can someone advise on this?
