i'm at work, i just took the axim out of the case and it will not turn on, i think the battery should be full, because i just took it off the charger this morning before i left, any ideas what's wrong with it?
If the other suggestions don't work, maybe you should try to take out both batteries. You will lose all data but if that works, at least you will know it's not the batt.
Otherwise you may have lost the full charge somehow.

Were you able to resolve this? Same thing happened to me this weekend. I called Dell Tech Support and was told to plug the A/C Adapter in and then attempt to turn on the Axim. If that didn't work then remove the batteries (both of them) and try plugging the Axim in to the A/C Adapter. Fortunately, it came back to the life without removing both batteries. But the tech did mention to me that there was a hardware flaw that caused this. After we hung up and I got thinking about it I've tried 3 times since to get back in touch with a tech that knows of the issue my tech described. No luck yet, but the original tech has a note to call me back. If this is a hardware issue that Dell knows about then it's covered under warranty. I'll post what I found out here.
My X5 was working fine today and suddenly will not turn on. I have read several posts and tried things like, soft and hard resets, removing both batteries, making sure the display was not dim and charging the main battery. Even with the external power I can not get it to turn on. Anyone have something else to try?
So, i'm not alone....
I use my Axim X5 every day and suddenly it won't turn on.
I disconnect and connect the main battery and i was able to turn it on again but all data was lost. I looked at the battery status and i saw that the main battery was charged for 100% but the backup battery for 50%. My first thinking was that i have a bad backup battery (axim is only one month old!!!).
After a while the status was 100% again. I think it was not the battery but some hardware problem like mentioned before. I hope someone has a solution or find what causing it.....Its not pleasent to loose all your data....

the samething happened to me, with my initial X5. I thought the unit had died. I found out that if you take the main battery off and leave the unit without power for a hour or two, it will clear itself up. Probably, it is hung up, and taking the power off will clear out the program tht is causing this. Worked for me. I had ordered a replacement unit, when this happened, and when the new one arrived, I tried the old one, which worked (after I had done a hard reset and lost everything...buyer beware.

Thanks.
Always, always, do a backup to a SD or CF card. if you have to do a hard reset, or a power off, for a long period of time, this is the only way to get any of your data to survive. I learned this the hard way (see previous message of mine in this thread)..

After fiddling with my Axim, that night and the next morning, it finally turned on. I can not explain the sudden change. Of course, all the data was gone so I had to reinstall my programs and re-synch. I have had no problems since then.

I believe that is the Axim's way of showing the MS "Blue" screen. Once the power to the unit runs off, it should repower itself back up when you cut it on. Least ways that has been my experence. I have a repeating task reminder that tells me to back my unit up each week (to a sd card - putting it in onternal storage is not good - if you lose power, you lise that backup)....
