I reviewed that card, and the review is posted here in the review section. Works well, nice resolution, good for straightforward PP presentations and showing the Axim screen through a projector. It does lose the transitions and animations, however, for more sophisticated presentations.

Have had my Axim since Christmas along with a SanD sd card & Dell keyboard. All of it works great.

Got my Axim around Christmas-time - and the only issue I've had is fighting with the dang backup batteries. I've changed batteries, updated to ROM A03, and I just got off the phone with Dell - they're shipping me a new unit. Should be here tomorrow. I hope that this one doesn't have the same issue.

Overall, I've been happy with performance - the battery thing was just an annoyance.

I also have a 256 mb Sandisk SD card. No problems at all.

I definitely wouldn't worry about seeing posts of other user's problems. It is important to remember that people usually only post when they have a problem....rarely do you see someone start a new thread that says "Just wanted to let everyone know everything is working fine"....well I guess I started this post with that....

I've been enjoying mine so much, that I'm getting my girlfriend one for her birthday.

It appears like there are tons of hardware problems, especially with additional memory. I'm getting quite nervous and having second thoughts about this.

I used an iPAQ 3835, and never had hardware issues. The Axim seemed like a good deal because of the processor speed and the price.

Is my perception correct that getting the SD and CF memory to work well is a crap shoot? I ordered the $199 CF card from Dell that allows me to use PowerPoint presentations with an LCD projector. That means I will have to use SD memory if I want additonal storage space when using that CF card.

Please provide me with some comments. Thanks.
Like others have said, don't worry. The VAST majority of us, IMO, are very happy with their purchase and wouldn't trade their axim for anything (well..not anything :p ). Also, if you think about it, not many are going to say, gee I really like how well my Lexar media cards work! Good luck on your decision. BTW, I would recommend the axim to anyone. Just my 2 cents.

At what resolution can u project your presentations??

640x480 or 800x600 or 1024x768??
or is that dependant on the projector....??

In short...can it do what a laptop would do....???...I DO NOT NEED TRANSITIONS OR ANIMATIONS OR EDITING SLIDES....just efficiently and QUICKLY and smoothly projecting them....

e.g: i put the axim on the projector or beside it...and using a remote...give my lecture from like 6 feet away??

and what r your thoughts on the IAPresenter CF VGA Card ??

Good point...Didn't think of that one :) Or maybe the P**m Zire is the greatest PDA ever because you don't see ANYONE complaining about it here! Silly me! Why didn't I realize that sooner!!!! ;)

plus, you also have to take into account that some users have had problems MAYBE because they don't know what they're doing and they mess things up....just a thought.

VERY true. I have seen our users do some of the weirdest things to PC's I've ever seen. Plus, flash memory is really far from infallible, so it could actually be the card itself. (Take SanDisk 256MB SD for example)

Margi CF Presenter-to-Go Card Update

I received my Margi CF Presenter-to-Go Wednesday, May 21, 2003. The card is everything they promised. First, the installation is simple and straight forward. Once the software is installed and the CF card is properly inserted, the Axim immediately recognizes the card. Presenter-to-Go adds an item to your PowerPoint buttons. You simply click on it and whatever presentation is open will be converted and sent to your PDA.

The good thing is that you can save the presentation on an SD card - that's what I did. Since I didn't have an LCD projector, I hooked it up to a 17" monitor. It worked flawlessly. The remote worked from about 10 feet away, even when I did not appear to be pointing it directly to the IR port. You can use the remote to jump to specific slides. This thing beats a laptop hands down.

One more great feature is something called Margi Mirror. It allows you to project the PDA onto a screen regardless of what program you're using. It's perfect for teaching, because you can use the stylus to write. (O, you can also make live notes on your ppt presentation).

The only con to this card is that it would be nice if it could connect to a television (A/V). That would work when you want to do presentations for organizations that do not have an LCD. Other than this, I recommend this card fully.

Just got off the phone with Dell Customer Care. They believe my problem is with the Axim itself not the 2 SDD Sandisk 256mb cards. They are sending me a new Axim out. Outside of being on hold for awhile it was rather painless dealing with their Customer service.

The good news for everyone is that of the 15,000 members of this site, see how few people are actually complaining about problems from their Axim and/or Dell. This is NOT intended to minimize the problems some are having as I had a Dpad problem and received a new Axim. It is just that no one manufactures all perfect products or has perfect customer service, but the numbers seem to indicate the Axim is a good quality product.

I know I am thrilled to have an Axim and hope everyones problems are resolved to their satisfaction.

Happy Axim use to all, and to all a good night!
