Help!!
From the start, since I got my Axim in December, the night before Christmas, I have had problems here and there with Active Sync...
I have a big problem now, the application manager will not install any programs on my Axim, it says something to the extent of not communicating with it, I tried reinstalling Active Sync, a few times, even downloaded Active Sync 3.7, no budge..... It won't install anything, I soft reset my axim, a million times, and even hard reset it. Is it time for it to go back to Dell, and wait until I get a new one? HELP!!!

You'll probably need to supply more details in order to get some help. For example, are you using USB for the connection? Does other aspects of ActiveSync work (i.e. syncing appointments, contacts, files)? What OS are you running on the PC?
In the meanwhile, you may find some answers here (although at the moment, the website doesn't seem to work. I assume it will be back up eventually since it's always worked before).

Do you have your Axim plugged into a USB Hub ?? If so try plugging it directly into the back of the computer ...

What have you done lately--install, uninstall, change--to either the Ax or your PC? Firewall? Network change?

I tried to install the updates for the rom, I belive that was the last thing to install... The damndest thing just happened, when I hard reset it and cleared the memory, and synced as a guest, it installed the programs, than when I went to do more and make an account it stoped working..God must have it out for my Axim's fate!

did you try to change the language when you updated the ROM?
If so, you are the proud owner of a new paperweight... I did this 1 month ago, and still haven't found a solution...
The problem is, this device is like a slave to micro$oft: if ActiveSync doesn't start on the PPC, there is apparently nothing Dell can do, even at the factory (this I can't believe...) Let's say, there's nothing they want to do.
the future looks dark about you axim, poor pal!

I dont think that you are fubar-ed.........I think that a hard reset, followed by a reinstallation of A03 (probably), and a careful first syncronization as Guest will cure all your problems....
Make sure that you have the correct Regional Settings, that you dont mess up the upgrade, and that you make the first sync as Guest, and the second as the "proper" owner, i.e with the correct account ;)

thanks, but unfortunately, as long as ActiveSync is down on the PDA, nothing can be done to perform an extra upgrade or anything like that. Even hard resets don't work.
The problem is that ActiveSync needs a sort of "client" software running on the PDA. If it doesn't work, communication between the computer and the Axim is not possible. Thus making impossible any other update.
It seems quite nothing, this small app on the Axim (btw, the exe is in the Windows folder, and is repllog.exe -- in case this could help anyone). But it is just like trying to put a key in a keyhole filled with hard concrete...
