Ambicom CF Wireless driver needed for sniffer software
First let me say thanks for having this site up to help us all out.
I purchased the Ambicom CF card mainly because of all the rave reviews that I saw here in the forums. I am having trouble auditing our local WiFi network though because I cannot get netstumbler or pocketwarrior to work with the drivers. I found the Intersil 2.09 drivers, but when I install them my card immediately shuts off.
Any suggestions?

You have to completely uninstall the Ambicom drivers, soft reset, install intersil drivers, soft reset, insert card and when it asks you what to call the card call it PRISMNDS.DLL

Thanks for the reply. Hope I wasn't the only one with trouble on this.

Wow, this looks like a pain. Do you need to do the same thing with a linksys card?

...and once I did this it appeared fine but I could not ping or browse the internet. I am going back to the Ambicom drivers that work. Too bad I can't use any sniffers.

Try Airscanner , It may work with the Ambicom drivers.

It does not. It still requires the Intersil driver. However, Airscanner and Pocketwarrior are incompatable with eachother. They make the Axim hard reset when both are installed.

It was a guess on my part. My SMC card works with Airscanner with it's own drivers but needs the intersil for pocketwarrior.

I use the Ambicom card, the Intersil driver, and PocketWarrior. That combo is pretty darn good. It used to really irk me that the Intersil drivers had no automatic powersave mode, but then on the other hand, I've gotten used to just turning on the card via the driver when I need access and in the long run I probably use less battery that way.

What configuration did you use? I couldn't even get the Ambicom to come on once I changed over to the Intersil drivers.

Well, that wasn't too painfull. IT WORKED!!! YEAH!!! Using PocketWarrior and most importantly Winc. Now if only mini stumbler would get on the band wagon. But I'm happy. Thanks io333. Next stop, GPS. Anyone wanna buy a Brand New Dell TrueMobile 1180 CF card? :p No seriously, I mean it, anyone wanna buy it, cheap?

Yup, the compaq driver worked ok for me too. However what I found was that it eventually started acting up and not getting a signal? Anyway, I did another hard reset and put in the original Ambicom drivers. After playing with it a bit I found that THEY HAVE A POCKET WARRIOR TYPE TAB BUILT IN!!!!
Granted, you have to hit rescan, but it works, so end to my frustration.
