I have a 128MB PNY SD card. I've been using it exclusively in the Avim for several months. No problems. Straight out of the box into the Axe and start saving data to it. Bought a Soyo BayOne 6n1 card reader and it killed my data.
Step by step:
-Installed card reader.
-Put in SD Card to test read.
-XP pops up with "Card is not formatted. Do you want to format now?"
-I say no.
-Pop out card and put back in Axim to back up data through ActiveSync.
-Start copying data and it fails halfway through.
-Check computer nad nothing is there. Check card in Ax and directory structure is there but no data.
-Shrug, cry a little over split data and pop card into card reader.
-XP pops up with "Card is not formatted. Do you want to format now?"
-I say Yes.
-XP tells me card cannot be formatted. (!?!)
-Use App that comes with card reader to format card and it recognizes card and formats it.
-XP pops up with "Card is not formatted. Do you want to format now?"
-I say Yes.
-XP tells me card cannot be formatted. (!?!)
-Axim pops up with "Card is not formatted. Do you want to format now?" (!?!)
-I say yes
Card is formatted again. 120.1 MB free.
Now I can save data to it from the Ax, but the computer won't read it.
A friend's iPaq 38xx can't read it, wants to format it.
Another friend's iPaq 5450 can read it now.
Am I just confused about the "Secure" properties of the SD Card or do y'all think there is a problem here.
This has something to do with the format that the SD card is in. The work around for me was to format it in my digital camera. Then it worked on both the Axim and on my PC. The SD card needs to be formated in the "super floppy" format.... The only tool I have that does this is my digital camera.
Originally posted by CyJack I have the Flash Format utility. It doesn't seem to have a 'Super Floppy' format option. Does anyone know of a format utility that does?
Well I might have mislead you... Super Floppy isn't really a format... Try formating it as FAT32...
