Axim Random Hard-Reset

My friend gave me his Dell Axim about a year ago....It's worked fine in the past, but occassionally the Axim would reset on me and all my data would be lost. I attributed it to not charging it. Lately however, I've been remembering to charge it, and more and more the Axim keeps Hard-Resetting on its own. I'll turn it on and get the "Screen Alignmen" screen. Anyone know what's the matter with it? The battery is at 95% and the backup battery is at full. I don't get it!

Matt

Try carefuly peeling the rubber pad off the left side it might be dammaged and hitting the reset switch. On the back side of the rubber there is a little nub that contacts the switch. I had to take a razor blade and trim the nub back .
The damage may have come from pokeing it with the stylus and holding it may
put enough pressure to hit the reset switch.
The upper switch is the recorder (has square nub) the lower is the reset

Good Luck!
I hope this helps

You may also want to check the settings, especially your power settings and touch screen. For example, I do not allow my system to power on/come back by the touch screen, only the power button. Wny - saves battery power and can save from accidental reset.

Good luck and welcome to Aximsite!!!

From jeff2nye on 3/25: Happens to me also- must be a temporary battery disconnection that erases the memory- I just bought a storage card, and will continually back up my info on it, so I can retrieve it when neccessary- good luck- Jeff
