I also called Dell tech support and after about 10 minutes of trying to convince them that it really wouldn't go past the "Align Screen" screen, they finally said they'd send me a new one and that I'd get it within 3 business days. Good enough, I suppose.

I just called Dell for the same exact problem (seems they need to fix this don't they?) and within five minutes they were sending me a new one. I was wondering though, I am using a Sena case and could the pressing in on the screen by the case maybe have precipitated this?
Thanks for all the help just from reading this thread.
I have this same problem and have to squeeze (sometimes quite hard) to get the screen to respond. I called Dell on Monday and received the new unit today. Unfortunately, it also has the same problem (just not as severe).
This is distressing.
I NEED my Axim!

System i ... for when you can't afford to be out of business
You should call about a replacement. They will probably transfer you to someone else, and they will give you all the info about the getting the replacement, but only after trying some useless troubleshooting tips.
Just make sure you look over the new unit that you get. I found that on the new unit I received (and am about to send back), the stylus dragged on the screen, the battery was very much OVER TIGHT, and that it had a dead pixel (one that doesn't work properly). It didn't even fit into my new Proporta Aluminium Case properly, and kept trying to slip out when it was turned up-side-down. My old one never did this.
Originally posted by slothdog Count me in for someone having a screen problem. I did notice that if I tapped in the very upper right of the screen, it would bring up the input options menu as if I'd tapped in the lower right.... I did a hard reset and now it won't go past the "Align Screen" screen at all. Bleh.
I emailed Dell support and hopefully they'll be sending me a new one soon....
hey, i just had that prob right when i got my new axim, did you ever get past the aligning... heres what i did, I just lightly pressed the stylus between the screen and frame and it works for 5 min or so. Finally what I ended up doing is cutting a small peice of rubber from a cheap car mat prying it up with a palm stylus [axims are to weak] and slipping it all the way to the bottom of the screen but be sure not to interfier with the d-button.
first try prying up the screen a bit and taking it out.

Greetings and salutations one and all.
My axim started playing up a week ago, screen started to get unresponsive, today....... aaaaaggghhhhhh
After two calls to Dell, who were very efficient and talked me through several options they have decided to send a new one out.
My Axim had exactly the same symptoms as the hi-lighted post above, EXACTLY!!!!!!!!
My 12 month warranty says I have a next day Business return, so a phone call today means new Axim tomorrow!!!! (hopefully)
Thanks Dell for you time and Help, if the new one is super douper, i'll even say nice things in the e-mailed Q&A.
