X5 Constant 22uA drain on backup battery?
X5 Constant 22uA drain on backup battery?
My X5 backup battery went dead. Only lasted a couple of
months. No, it's not dirt
or loose contacts...took the battery out, put a
voltmeter on it 0.5V, it's dead.
I put in a new backup battery and measured the current
drain. With a fully charged main battery, X5 powered off
and nothin' in
either of the cf/sd slots, I measure 22 microamps.
Plugging in the CF wireless card and the SD Flash
card made no difference. There should be ZERO drain
on the backup battery when the main battery is inserted and charged.
Has anyone measured their backup battery drain?
Do I need to go looking for leaky caps?
Ok, so why am I worried about this?
Battery is 220mAH, that's 10,000 hours...right???
I don't think so. That 220 mAH is measured to a terminal
voltage of 2.0V. The X5 is gonna give up long before that.
And a cell that measures near 2V with 22uA load is gonna be
useless trying to supply multi mA when trying to perform
its actual backup function while changing main batteries.
I've read 20 pages of threads on aximsite. Lots of conjecture
on this issue, but little actual data.
I'd like to know if the 22uA is a typical number for the X5??
Ideas?
Thanks, mike
