Screen scatches in writing area
Hi all,
I had my Axim since April and use it constantly. In the area you write at I have a screen scatch about the size of a dime.It is the area that I write all the time.My question is Is there anything I can do to get rid if the scatch area? Can I order a new piece of glass?
I ordered screen protectors from Dell about 2 weeks ago. They are supposed to be arriving tomorrow.
Any help would be appreciated.I really like the Axim and don't want to have to send out for repair as I wouldn't know what to do with out it .
Thanks.

I had this problem on a palm pilot in the grafiti area. It wasn't the visual imperfection that bothered me, it was more the slight ridge I felt when writing. I fixed this problem by buying a multifunction stylus, I couldn't feel the ridge anymore because my hand wasn't holding onto the stylus itself but the frame around it. Kind of like a shock protector. But if it is a visual problem I have seen posts on replacement Digitizer glass. It runs 50 bucks I believe. Do a search for "replace glass" and i'm sure you'll come up with tons of stuff.

Good reading material for those who are opposed to using a screen protector.

And speaking of screen protectors, would a good screen protector make writing a little easier for eddie8 and eliminate the need to replace the screen? Just a thought.

Before you replace the digitizer, you might try WriteShield screen protectors. If the problem is feel, the screen protector will provide a new surface for that feel. If the problem is the vision, the protector may still help by reducing the overall glare, thereby making the difference not as noticeable. And they are cheaper and less traumatic to install than a new digitizer.

I've been using Laminate It by GBC. Read an article on it and it seems to be working great. Sticks to the screen and is very easy to write over. 10 sheets for $7, I can make screen protectors for everyone in Mr. Rogers neighborhood! Probably going to make the Ax self distruct after 1000 letters... but that's a worry for tomorrow...
