Kept getting this message when Axim inserted into cradle. This also was happening with Hotsync with my Handspring Visor.

If I open Outlook before inserting into cradle, no error is generated.

Following error message is generated:

AppName: outlook.exe AppVer: 9.0.0.2416 ModName: mso9.dll
ModVer: 9.0.0.3821 Offset: 001a645f

Running Windows XP Professional. My logon has full administrator rights. Not using any passwords.
I reinstalled office 2000,works suite 2002, and installed service pack 3.
Running ActiveSync 3.6.

Error message also mentions a possible conflict with
having two folders named C;\Program Files\Microsoft and
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office. This is not the case.

Found knowledge base article 324864. Required removal of Personal Folders Backup
utility.
Problem has vanished.
