Infra red SOLVED [8210 vs AXIM] (Part 1)
Aloha to all....!!!!!!
Well...i thought I'd share my experience with all those having problems in sharing data between their mobile phones and the axim, eventhough it is only HALF a solution..like I said PART 1....
Hopefully the other half will be solved soon...
So...here goes to all the newbies like mee.......
First off...sysinfo from my AXIM:
"Model: Dell Axim X5
CPU: Intel® PXA255 400 MHz A0 Stepping
Flash: 28F192 / 48 MB
RAM: 64 MB
ROM Version: A02 (03050300EN)
OS Version: 3.0.11171 (Build 11178)"
I have NOT done any ROM upgrades since i got my axim like 2 weeks ago.
I have been trying to beam my contacts FROM my 8210 TO AXIM for the past days, but ALWAYS failed....till the solution happened by TOTAL CHANCE....and i successfully beamed 120+ contacts in a row...ALL worked perfectly....
PART 2 will be about beaming FROM AXIM TO 8210:rolling: when i get it to work....
Here goes:
1. Allign both infrared ports...but DONOT place them close together....more like 4 inches (~ 15cm)
2. Goto your contact on your mobile...scroll to "send via IR" prepare to press "select" but NOT JUST YET!!
3. On the AXIM...GOTO:
Start>Programs> and prepare your stylus to tap on "Infrared recieve" BUT NOT JUST YET!!
4. Now press "select" on your mobile FOLLOWED IMMEDIATELY (1-2 seconds) by tapping with the stylus on "Infrared recieve" on the AXIM.....VOILA...
The AXIM will ask you if u wanna save your contact within 1-2 seconds.
If the AXIM starts searching for a DEVICE and finds the 8210, TAP CANCEL.....IT WILL NEVER RECIEVE ANYTHING....it means u miss timed your press and tap!!
It worked for me for the past hour.....hope this helps.....GOOD LUCK!!...........:crooked:
