Is my green light underpowered?
Hi Guys & Gals,
I have just received my Axim and am currently going throught the
painfull palm to PPC assimilation :).
I have noticed that the green light in the power button is VERY dim.
When doing my initial 4 hour charge, the amber light was OK (still not brilliant) but when it switched to green (fully charged) I thought the led was broken!
It's not a great issue, but untill I figure out how to get the calandar alarms to 'nag' me with audio rather than flashing an invisible light, this is an issue for me.
Are all Axims like this, or is it just mine?

The green light is virtually useless. My prior PDA was a Jornado. It had a wonderful light, visable from the top as well as the front. If I wasn't sure whether my PDA beeped, I could just glance at my shirt pocket and know for sure. That will never happen with the Axim.
Fortunately, the Axim has many fine attributes as well as a few faults. I especially enjoy the beautiful screen. And the Ax is always a blast.

Take your Ax into an unlit closet. Close your eyes for 30 minutes. Open your eyes and presto you can see the green light.
It's not the brightest led I've ever seen.

Green light? What Green Light?
It's not fun to admit this but I did not even know there was a green light on the AX until I read a post about it on this site. I had owned it for 3 weeks....oh the shame.

Not to be picky, but did you mean 30 seconds. I would get really bored sitting in a closet with my eyes closed for 30 minutes.

If you go into settings-sounds & notifications-notifications you can select the event i.e. reminders and select an audio alarm - still not very loud, but repeats.
Haven't tried finding where you could locate other files to play...but someone else may have..

I've just tried recording a wav file on my laptop, copy & pasted it into the windows folder of my ax and now you can select it as a sound in the notifications menu (as above) - so you can use own audio, but probably only wav files;)

Many thanks for all the replies. I'll refrain from returning mine as faulty.
I've had this machine for a couple of days now, and although it's not perfect (then again, neither am I), and I am converting from palm, I have to say this is a nice machine for the price.
I have loads of questions, but not for this thread. The main issues I have with regards to hardware are...
1) The aformentioned green light
2) The lack of a flip screen protector. My previous machine (a palm M105) has a very simple but very effective flip cover that adds next to nothing in terms of bulk or weight. It can be removed easly and had served me well for nearly 2 years.
All it requires are a couple of small anchor holes in the top of the PDA. It's so simple and effective, I cannot understand why other PDA manufacturers have not duplicated this facility (unless palm have some form of copyright) It would also allow the third party protector manufacturers to provide smaller, neater solutions.
I've bit the bullit and ordered a Senna case. Not my preferred type of case, but seems like a good all-round solution.
Just my 2 pene'th based on a very short time with my baby :)
Once again, thanks for the feedback.

Yes lets just overclock the light to get it to shine brighter.
