please help me with syncing!

I can't connect my Axim to my computer because whenever I plug it into the cradle, nothing is recognized on my computer, and when I try to sync from hte axim (going to activesync and pressing "synchronize"), then it just says that it is unable to connect with the current settings.

Have you ever been able to sync or did it just stop working? If it's never worked and you have WinXP, did you install the Dell drivers?

Have you installed any new programs lately?

A couple of things to try that help some but not all. If you have a USB 2 port try it, a USB 2 port will allow for more power to the Axim if needed. If you have the correct cable you might want to try using a serial connection (something about USB drives).

I had the similar problem and used system restore to go back to a point where I knew everything was working O.K., this fixed my problem.

Let us know....

:D

We posted at the same time , glad you got it going. Now there is another thing to try...

I am having similar problems. Everything was working fine last week, I went away for a week on business, came back and placed my Ax into it's cradle expecting everything to sync fine. All I get is "Your device cannot be detected". I am confused, I have checked the device manager and all drivers and all are up to date and OK, the confusing thing is that the Axim turns itself off after 3 minutes when in the cradle, this is my setting for when it is on external power, the battery has recharged though and the nice Dell light is shining but I just cannot get it to sync, Any Ideas???

I've come to believe some of these problems that start after ActiveSync was previously working are due to some of the 'upgrades' that M$ automatically loads onto WinXP. One thing I suggest is that you try to repair IE6 on your PC. There is a link to the procedure on this site ActiveSync Troubleshooting Guide. If the IE repair doesn't work, look through some of the other problems/solutions on the site.
