Hi all,
After 2 weeks of fussing with my Linksys WCF12 Wireless CF card, I still cannot get it to work. Here's the story: Got one for Christmas, installed it and it worked for about a week or so. All of a sudden, out of the blue, it stops working and everytime I insert the card, it pops up the "Unrecognized Card" box and asks for the driver location. I've tried it all (well, I think so). Soft Resets, Hard Resets, reinstallations, etc... Linksys was supposed to have a level 2 tech call me back about this issue and its now been 4 days. I called again yesterday and they said they would have some one call. Yeah right... BTW, the driver on the CD seems to at least work 1 out of every 25 times I insert the card, but the latest driver on the Linksys site does not work at all. What do you guys think, bad card? Wierd drivers? Someone out there must be having similar issues? Thanks for everyone's help! Tony

Have you solved the problem? I nearly gave up on my Linksys WCF12 as well, but the trick was to manually install the CAB file. I believe it is just an issue of a faulty setup executable on your Linksys CD. It was not obvious how to do this but when you run the setup, the correct CAB files are loaded on your PC. You then just copy the CAB to any folder on the Axim and click it.
In order to connect to your network PC, you will need to modify the registry to indicate the correct static IP and name for your desktop or laptop. Fortunately a program called PCHOSTS does this quite easily. Also, when you sync wirelessly, make sure you don't have "Disconnect after sync" turned on. I ended up sending my WCF12 back to Linksys for a replacement. It was faulty...
The new WCF12 installed flawlessly and has been running strong for about 2 weeks now. I think the connections between the CF part and the antenna are flimsy and the constant inserting and pulling of the WCF12 causes the internal connections to break. I wouldn't be surprised if this is why so many people are having problems.... Tony
