SD card and keyboard drivers
Could I possibly backup my Dell keyboard driver to my SD card, so in an event, when I am on the road and need to do a hard reset, I can at least use my keyboard? Thanks.

Why not ? Just keep the .cab file somewhere in any card (SD or CF), and re-install it when you perform a hard-reset.....simple as that ;)

The only problem with this suggestion is that the driver comes as an exe file (not a cab) that only works from the PC. You can copy it to the sd card but you'd need to find a PC to do the installation from. The other solution is to copy the essential files from the PPC's window directory to the sd and copy them back after the hard reset but you'd probably need to do a registry hack for them to work.

So .cab files are the ones that run straight off the PDA w/o any installation needed by a PC?

Yep ;)
And I didnt know that the Dell Keyboard driver comes as an .exe. I've been thinking about getting a keyboard, and the Dell one looks nice.......albeit being a bit expensive.......

The Dell one -is- a nice keyboard...good solid feel, even when precariously balanced on your lap. and the built in stand is nice.
The problem I've found with the keybaord, however, is that after doing even a soft reset, you have to access the controlling software to re-enable it--and that the software doesn't start up well--or at all from the installed icon. I've found that I have to use an explorer-program to go in to run the program and re-enable the keyboard. Anyone have a fix for this?

ive run into that problem too every now and then. i think it might be fixed by the new driver.....basically sometimes i need to re-enable it, sometimes i dont....seems to depend on what backup file i use, might depend on some settings also. i bet its the driver.

I have the fold-up Dell keyboard pretty nice, btw. I've never run into the soft reset problem. However, I have yet to do a soft reset whilst using the keyboard. Probably just removing it and putting the PDA back in would re-enable it, rather than having to go to the app...
