Buttons don't work!!!
Ok, I have a major problem. I have messed something up. None of the buttons on my axim work (shortcuts, dpad, power.) I have soft and hard reset and they still don't work. After the hard reset, all buttons worked until I restored, then buttons stopped working. Any advice???? It there some setting that I may have set by accident???

There is a way of disabling the buttons (Settings, Personal, Buttons, and assign 'none' to each). Additionally, there is a place which controls whether the buttons will wake up the Axim (Settings, System, Power, Control, and the check box). However, since it happened by accident, it sounds like one of the programs you have installed has a setting to control the functions of the buttons, but I have no guess as to what it may be. The first location I described has a 'restore defaults' option which may solve it, but if whatever program caused it in the first place recreates the situation, you'll probably have to remove programs individually to track down the culprit.

Still no luck. I have tried all the settings options and can't get it to work. I uninstalled all software that was installed yesterday before the problem started (pocketinformant and the one that lets you rotate view.) I just can't figure out what is causing this. The buttons don't work in any program (ie: nes emulator, windows media player, etc.) I can't even turn the Axim off, I have to let it auto shut off.
Help!!!!!

Does the soft reset work?
Did you try that restore feature in the settings after removing the programs?
I'm afraid after this, about the only suggestion I can make is a hard reset. If you have a backup prior to when you were having the problems, restore from it, otherwise, I'd suggest just reinstalling the programs from ActiveSync.

If the above don't work it may be hardware problem and you should call Dell for a replacement..

I did hard reset and restore and the problem is still there. Oh well, I guess I get to start with a fresh and clean Axim.

Even with a fresh and clean one you should be able to restore from a backup.
Good Luck

It certainly could be a hardware problem but if I were you, I'd do another hard reset and see if the buttons work before doing any restoring. That will definitely rule out any software issues.

I'm sorry, I wasn't clear. I already did a hard reset and the buttons worked fine. Then I restored and the buttons stopped working again.

In that case, it seems more likely to be a software issue. Try another hard reset and reinstall the programs (through ActiveSync) a few programs at a time - maybe even letting it go a day or two before adding a few more.

As long as you are using the same PC where the programs were originally installed from, you can just recreate the partnership after the hard reset and then go into ActiveSync on the PC, select Tools, Add/Remove Programs and check the boxes you want to reinstall. I have found that it's better to do them one at a time (that is, check a box, click on OK, then reopen the Add/Remove Programs menu and check the next box, click OK, etc) and, as I mentioned above, you probably want to do just a few at a time, anyway.
As long as this works for the button issue, you may also find the Axim runs better, especially if you've tried a lot of programs that you eventually removed.

I have the same problem. It happen after I downloaded a program that lets you rotate the view.
None of the buttons nor the power buttons work. After a hard reset the buttons work until I do a restore, then they fail. I had already uninstalled the program that caused it.
