Back Up battery

I have had my Axim for 6 months now. Just recently I have used my Axim and all of a sudden it gives me the back up battery is low. What would all of a sudden drain the back up battery. Plus I take it that the backup battery doewnt recharge in the craddle cause it still is low. Any suggestions? Is It supposed to charge back up? Can an application drain it? Thanks for your help.

No the backup battery is NOT rechargable ... They will die over time (not sure how long thou) .. Also if your main battery drained dead or got very low then the Axim might have started using some of the backup battery ...

The backup battery is a simple watch battery and you should be able to find them in most stores like Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Radio Shack etc etc ...

As long as it doesn't get used (which should only occur if the main battery gets low or you remove it for any length of time), the backup should last a couple of years. There is a software problem with version A00 of ROM which causes faulty reporting of the charge on the backup battery. If you haven't already done either upgrade, I'd upgrade to A03 (the problem was fixed in A02 but if you are upgrading at this point, you should go all the way). I'd also get a new battery if I were you (CR2032).

There have been many reports of the back up battery reading 100% one minute and 30% the next and back to 100% again in the span of a few minutes.
Many people believe it has something to do with the way the axim reads the power level and not the battery itself.
Batteries are cheap so you might want to pick up a new one.

Mad Similar Issue

I just received a refurbished Axim. Upgraded to A03 and it does not recoginze that I have a back-up battery installed. It was reporting low, so I replaced it today with a brand new one and it still shows 0%. Anyone else heard of this?
