Mad X5 freezes after screen shuts off

Hi ... I have had the X5 for a while but stopped using it out of frustration. I have the Linksys WCF54G card and the last ROM update for the X5. If I stop using the machine and the screen dims it is always locked up when I turn it back on. I then have to remove the wireless card to get it to come to life again. I have reinstalled the Linksys drivers a few times and it still does it.

I don't have any other software installed ( mostly because I can't use it without going batty ).

When it is on, the Linksys card works fine and I have no problems getting internet access but this locking up after the screen shuts off makes me crazy.

Thanks,

Hank

Sounds like the card might be powering down but for some reason, not up again. Check the Power tab for the card in its WLAN profile.

If I look in Settings/Power/Wireless it says 'wireless signals on' and Linksys wireless g-compatible is checked.

If I look under Connections/wireless ethernet/Network Adapters/ the only option I have is to change the IP.

Am I looking in the wrong place?

Hank

The setting I'm talking about, would be found in the application that you would have installed with the card.

There is no application. You install drivers through active sync automatically and then you install the card, put in your WEP key and it works and you use IE or whatever browser you want.

I am guessing you have never used this card.

Hi. I have a wireless card (different brand) and it uses much more pwer than the Axim uses on itw own. What I suggest that you remove the card the moment that you are done using the internet. This should lessen the drain on the battery. You can tweak the settings for how quickly the screen dims in the brightness settings.

Good luck

In the area where you put in the WEP key, isn't there some section related to the power-saving setting of the card?

Yes, you're right, I never used that card.
